Demi Moore Biography

Demi Moore biography

Demi Moore was born on November 11, 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico, USA to Victoria Guynes and Charles Harmon. Her father, Charles, left her mother before she was born. Demi's stepfather, Danny Guynes, didn't add much stability to her life, either. He frequently changed jobs and made the family move a total of 40 times. To make matters worse, operations on her left eye during childhood caused her to wear a patch. Danny and Victora kept on drinking, arguing and beating each other, until Danny finally committed suicide, when she was seventeen years old. Although Demi was born in New Mexico, Demi spent much of her childhood in Eastern Pennsylvania.

A friend persuaded Demi to drop out of Hollywood's Fairfax High School at age 16 to become an actress. After dropping out of school Demi worked as a pin-up girl. When she was 18, Demi Moore married a musician Freddy Moore in 1980. But they divorced four years later in 1984.

Early Career - Television
Demi Moore started her acting career on Television, she does the television soap opera "General Hospital", a role she played from 1982 to 1983. Along with the success came wild parties and an addiction to cocaine. Demi got clean after more than three years when director Joel Schumacher fired her from the set of "St. Elmo's Fire" when she turned up high one day. She soon got a withdrawal treatment and returned clean after a week and stayed clean. Incidentally, Moore's character in St. Elmo's Fire Jules was herself a cocaine addict. She had to sign a contract stipulating that she would stop her own alcohol and drug abuse, an agreement that caused her life to turn around.

Debut Film - Choices
Her debut film was "Choices" in 1981 along with the schlock-tastic "Parasite" in the same year. In 1982, she did "Young Doctors in Love". Demi Moore had her first lead role in "No Small Affair" (1984) as an aspiring rock singer opposite Jon Cryer.

Breakthrough Film - St. Elmo's Fire
Her real breakthrough was "St. Elmo's Fire" in 1985, in which her role was about an unstable member of a group of college friends. Apparently, her onscreen instability mirrored her off screen condition at the time. THe film was a hit. Moore was engaged with Emilio Estevez (co-stars of St. Elmo's Fire) for three years.

She did "About Last Night" in 1986 and "The Seventh Sign" in 1988. In 1987, Demi weds to Bruce Willis in a Las Vegas. She had three daughters with him, Rumer Glenn, Scout LaRue, and Tallulah Belle.

Big Hit - Ghost
"Ghost" in 1990 was her biggest hit to date. It was a romantic drama in which her role was as the grieving girlfriend of the deceased Patrick Swayze. This film was a huge success to her.

In 1991, "The Butcher's Wife" and "Mortal Thoughts" were released, but unfortunately both of them were flop. Moore gained exposure of a different sort when she appeared nude and hugely pregnant on the cover of 'Vanity Fair', the resulting hoopla gained her more attention than either of her movies that year.

"Indecent Proposal" (1993) was another hit for Moore after Ghost. Indecent Proposal was about a woman (Moore) who agrees to a one-night stand with a wealthy man (Robert Redford) for one million dollars after she and her husband (Woody Harrelson) find themselves in dire financial straits.

"Disclosure" in 1994 proved a disappointment, and the following year's "Now and Then" (which she also produced) staged a similarly wan performance at the box office.

In 1996, she lends her voice to Disney's animated "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". However, that same year, she encountered another career pitfall in the form of "Striptease". Based on Carl Hiaasen's satirical novel about a divorcée who turns to stripping so that she can raise money to win back custody of her daughter, the film proved a failure.

In 1997 another disappointment "G.I. Jane". But she found herself getting more attention for her offscreen life for her divorce with Willis. They separated in 1998 and divorced officially in 2000.

Demi Moore- Producer
Moore also worked as producer. In 1997, she produced the hugely successful "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" and served in the same capacity for its mega-hit sequels, 1999's "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" and 2002's "Austin Powers in Goldmember". As a actor she did Alain Berliner's "Passion of Mind" in 2000. It was a psychological drama. The year 2003 brought Moore back on her way to success in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" in which she played the shockingly buff-bodied bad guy. Also she was discussed at that time for a romantic relationship with actor Ashton Kutcher, who was 15 years younger than her. Her upcoming movies are Half Light (2005) and Fright Pack: Man's Worst Friends (2005).

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are now husband and wife. The star couple was married Saturday night September 24, 2005 at their home in Beverly Hills. Moore, 42, and Kutcher, 27, exchanged vows in front of 100 guests including Demi's daughters, actress Soleil Moon Frye and her husband Jason Goldberg (who is Kutcher's Punk'd producing partner), as well as other close friends and family. This is the first marriage of Kutcher and the third of Moore.

Kutcher and Moore initially met at a casual dinner in New York City in 2003. After the That '70s Show star began dating Moore that May, he quickly carved out a place in the lives of her three daughters by Willis - Rumer, 17; Scout, 14; and Tallulah, 11 - who came to embrace Kutcher as a third parent, affectionately calling him MOD, short for "My Other Dad."
