Demetria Devonne “Demi” Lovato was born on August 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. She is an American actress, songwriter and musician. Her mother, Deana Lovato, was a country singer and a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Demi has two sisters, Dallas, who is five years older, and Madison, who is the little one. She studied at Cross Timbers Middle School in Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District, where she was a part of the choir. She achieved many talent contests in Texas. At the moment, she is home schooled by tutor due to her hectic schedule.
Demi began her acting and singing career as Angela on Barney & Friends when she was six years old. During the TV show, she made best friends with her co-star Selena Gomez. Both stars have fun making videos with a webcam and upload them to YouTube. When asked about how long the two actresses have been friends, Demi replied, “When I asked her to sit on my jacket and draw with crayons with me! (at the Barney auditions)”. She is also friends with another Disney star, Jennifer Stone, whom she met on Barney.
After that, she appeared on one episode of Prison Break, Split Ends (pilot) and Just Jordan. In January 2007, she played Charlotte Adams on the Disney Channel original short series As the Bell Rings. Demi is gearing up for her upcoming role as Molly in Welcome to Mollywood, a new show from Disney Channel Original Series, which starts production in September 2008. As regard her career on the big screen, Lovato stars Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock, which is expected to premiere on June 20, 2008. She is also slated in another Disney’s project titled Princess Protection Program, in which she stars and Selena Gomez co-stars.
Demi plays the piano and the guitar since she was eleven. She has co-written songs along with her close friends the Jonas Brothers. She made the cover of the Academy Award nominated song “That’s How You Know” from Enchanted on DisneyMania 6. Demi will be opening the Jonas Brothers 2008 Burning Up Tour in the summer. Demi is currently working on her debut album in a recoding studio in Miami, Florida. The Jonas Brother have co-written eleven tracks for the CD.
Her first tour, Demi Live! Warm up tour, kicked off on June 1, 2008 in Hershey, Pennsylvania and finished on June 28, 2008.
Demi sports a purity ring, engraved “True Love Waits”, but she uses it as a necklace.
